Shenzhen sees export growth in H1

SHENZHEN - The export of South China's technological powerhouse Shenzhen reached 757.14 billion yuan ($110.07 billion) in the first half of 2019 (H1), up 5.1 percent year-on-year, according to local customs.

The city's trade volume with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative reached 284.14 billion yuan in H1, up 5.7 percent year-on-year.

Private enterprises in the city contributed 775.42 billion yuan of export and import in H1, accounting for 58 percent of the total in the city.

Shenzhen saw robust growth in the import of fruits, medicine, seafood and other products. Its import of meat products and medicine grew by 31.2 percent and 28.7 percent respectively in H1.

"There are many positive elements in the city's foreign trade, which inject new momentum for the export and import of Shenzhen," Ke Huojuan, deputy head of statistical analysis office of local customs.
