BEIJING - China's national observatory on Sunday renewed a blue alert for rainstorms in parts of South, East and Southwest China.

From Sunday to Monday, heavy rain is expected to hit parts of Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Yunnan, Sichuan provinces, as well as Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Tibet autonomous region, according to the National Meteorological Center.

Some regions will see torrential rain, with precipitation up to 120 mm, it said.

The center advised local governments to keep alert to possible rain-triggered flooding, landslides and mudslides, and recommended outdoor operations be halted in hazardous areas.

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
