CPC thematic education campaign well underway
BEIJING - An education campaign themed "staying true to our founding mission" among all members of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has been carried out nationwide since it was launched on May 31.
At a key meeting to launch the campaign on May 31, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, mobilized the whole Party to carry out the thematic education and set down overall arrangement.
Xi reiterated the Party's original aspiration and mission, which is to seek happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation.
Xi's remarks unveiled the curtain for the campaign, prompting the entire Party to take immediate action.
So far, the thematic education has been launched in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, 116 central and state organs and people's organizations as well as 68 centrally-administered enterprises.
On June 5, a training meeting of the central guiding groups was held in Beijing. And 34 of such groups have been dispatched to units carrying out thematic education.
The top-down campaign was launched as China marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The thematic education will be conducted in two separate batches, especially targeting officials at and above the county level.
Fighting formalities for formalities' sake and bureaucratism should be taken as an important part of the education.
The evaluation of the campaign's effect should be based on improving the quality of officials, solving problems and the appraisal and opinion of the general public.
Various localities and departments have paid special attention to integrate the education with what the CPC Central Committee is planning to do and with the central work of their own departments and regions.
Beijing has asked Party members to make greater efforts to promote new development of the national capital.
The Supreme People's Court called for a combination of the thematic education and fulfillment of trial enforcement tasks.
During the education, the People's Bank of China required Party members to advance financial reform and ensure financial development and stability, while the National Health Commission has stressed the need for practical measures to solve problems to better serve the public.
