The new season of an online documentary will pay homage to the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China via a panoramic showcase of the country's beauty.

The third season of the eight-episode documentary Zui Mei Zhongguo (The Most Beautiful in China) will be released through Youku, one of China's main streaming media platforms, on June 18, as announced at a Monday news conference.

The upcoming production uses aerial photography following the country's fast-growing infrastructure. This includes Pingtang Grand Bridge in Guizhou province, which is still under construction and will be one of the world's tallest bridges; the country's biggest solar thermal electric power plant in Gansu province; and Xue Long 2, China's first homegrown research vessel and icebreaker for scientific exploration in Antarctica.

Nevertheless, according to Qiao Yan, director of the documentary, the production aims to reflect the self-confidence of the country from the perspective of not only a promising future but also cultural legacies.
