PARIS - Chinese women's footballer Wang Shuang on Monday responded to French media's report of an earlier contract termination with Paris Saint-Germain through social network, saying that she just wants to focus on upcoming FIFA Women's World Cup and international matches.

Wang, the current AFC Women's Player of the Year, signed a two-year contract with PSG. But French media reported on Sunday that the Chinese star could have already quit from the French club, expected to be involved in a negotiation of terminating her contract for a return to China in a few hours, with still one year left on her contract.

"Playing abroad this time is my choice, and it is strongly supported by the Chinese Football Association, Chinese national team and Wuhan Football Association," Wang wrote on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.

"Now the season is over, and I'm preparing for the World Cup with the national team. I will make a discreet decision by myself on my future at the club," she said.

Wang finished runner-up in French league with PSG, also making the quarterfinals in Champions League before being knocked out by Chelsea.

She is training with the Chinese team in Rennes for their first group match of World Cup against Germany on Saturday.

"Now I just want to focus on the World Cup and national team matches.

"Thanks for everyone for your concern and support. Please continue to cheer for us, the Chinese women's football team," she wrote.
