US should prove charges against Huawei, govt says

The United States needs to show evidence to support its attack on Huawei, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said on Thursday.
Lu's remark came after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in an interview on Wednesday that "Huawei is an instrument of the Chinese government".
US State Department spokesperson Morgan Ortagus also said on Wednesday the 2019 US National Defense Authorization Act's ban on government from procuring Huawei's products "was predicated on quite a bit of evidence".
In order to suppress Huawei, the US government has been "wracking its brains" trying to make up various issues and mislead the public, Lu said in a daily news conference.
"But the US has dodged a topic that everybody cares about the most, which is whether it can provide evidence," Lu said.
