It was a nice consolation for team China, who earlier suffered a tough 7-3 loss to a controlled, disciplined American team Shuster. But there were glimmers of brilliance even in this loss for the Chinese team, particularly on the last shot of the second end, when Zou delivered a perfect assault on the button that was so close to the American stone it had to be measured with a curlometer to determine if the point was in.

China and four-time world champion team Edin of Sweden lead the Group A. Earlier in the day, Canadian team Koe had a narrow 5-4 victory over team Ulsrud of Norway, but blasted team Paterson of Scotland 9-2.
