The New Oriental Education and Technology Group and the Shanghai-based research consultancy iResearch recently co-released the 2019 White Book of Global Study Tour and Global Camp Education.
The white book estimates that the size of the global study tour and global camp education market in China is about 94.6 billion yuan ($14 billion) in 2018, and it’s likely to grow at an average year-on-year rate of 20 percent.
It reveals that for all-round education, Chinese parents with a child aged between three and 15 pay most attention to fostering, physical and mental health, learning habits, character-building, and logic thinking.
New Oriental’s assistant vice president Liu Ting says global study tours and camp education provide children with experiential education, so that they can observe and know about the world via their own eyes. And it has a huge influence on their lives.
According to her, compared with the Western countries, the history of China’s study tours and camp education is only three decades old and it’s still developing.
So, she says, it’s important for those in the industry to work together to improve the standards and come up with a supervisory mechanism.
