"As the palace of human art masterpieces, art education has always been one of the most important focuses of Louvre Museum," Melissano said at the gala. "This (project) is an important milestone for the Louvre's art education in China."

Melissano says that last year saw the number of visitors to the Louvre exceed 10 million, and the number of Chinese visitors was 800,000, ranking third among the nationalities that visited the museum. Among the Chinese visitors, an increasing proportion are families and young adults who are seeking an educational tour rather than a fleeting glance.

Melissano also says that the Louvre would like to continue to work with Chinese organizations to offer new art education opportunities to Chinese children.
