KUNMING - Police in Southwest China's Yunnan province have apprehended six suspects and seized over 15 kg of heroin in a cross-provincial raid, local police said Monday.

Police officers captured four people suspected of selling drugs in Dai-Jingpo autonomous prefecture of Dehong on April 7. Forty pieces of heroin weighing a total of 15.52 kg were found in the suspects' vehicle.

With the support of police in Northwest China's Gansu province, two more suspects were detained in Hui autonomous prefecture of Linxia two days later.

Yunnan police said that further investigation was underway.

Yunnan is a major front in China's battle against drug crime as it borders the Golden Triangle, an area notorious for rampant drug production and trafficking.
