China has welcomed the news that the United States is delaying a planned tariff hike on Chinese imports, the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council (CTCSC) said on Saturday.

The United States Trade Representative's (USTR) office released a statement outlining the postponement of a planned tariff hike on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods until further notice.

The tariff rate remains at 10 percent, according to USTR.

CTCSC said in a statement that it was aware of the USTR's move, and welcomed the step.
