Shanghai has set its GDP growth target at 6-6.5 percent for 2019, lower than the 6.6 percent achieved in 2018.

Shanghai mayor Ying Yong proposed the target in his municipal government work report at the annual session of the Shanghai People's Congress opening on Sunday.

Per-capita disposable income is expected to record a synchronized growth with the city's GDP, while investment in environmental protection will account for 3 percent of GDP, according to the mayor.

Other targets include a surveyed and registered urban unemployment rate of 4.3 percent, and investment in research and development staying at 4 percent of GDP.

Shanghai's GDP came in at around 3.27 trillion yuan in 2018. Per-capita disposable income reached 64,183 yuan, up 8.8 percent from a year earlier.
