Power of Chinese contemporary dance to soar at Shanghai biennial
The first China Contemporary Dance Biennial will take place at Shanghai International Dance Center from Aug 27-31, as a showcase of outstanding works from rising choreographers and dancers from the country's contemporary dance scene, as well as a new platform to enhance cooperation between Chinese artists and the rest of the world.
The event will bring together the best of young Chinese contemporary dancers from recent years, featuring performances, master classes, lectures and forums, to shine light on the newest developments in Chinese contemporary dance. World-famous dance producers and art directors from international dance festivals will be invited to the Chinese economic hub city to promote international exchanges.
Dance works featured at the event will be selected from the Chinese Dancers Association's National Young Dancers Development Plan over the past four years, presenting China's contemporary dance power to the world.
The biennial is sponsored by the Chinese Dancers Association and Shanghai International Dance Center Development Foundation, and organized by the Shanghai International Dance Center Theater and Young Artists Platform of Dance, with special support from the Dance College of Shanghai Theatre Academy.
