Searching for the Lotus-Born Master (Ⅸ)
Editor's note: Laurence Brahm first came to China as a university exchange student from the US in 1981 and has spent much of the past three and a half decades living and working in China. He is a lawyer, an economist and founding chairman of the Himalayan Consensus. He is also an award-winning documentary film director specializing in extreme Himalayan expeditions. His latest film Searching for the Lotus-Born Master (2018) has received a dozen international film festival awards and accolades.
Starting Nov 14, China Daily has published behind-the-scenes stories about the documentary, with nine episodes total.
In the eighth manifestation, the Lotus-Born Master took the form of Dorje Drolo, the most fierce manifestation of them all, who holds the ritual dagger and flies on a tigress (his consort), across the Himalayas. As Dorje Drolo, the Lotus-Born Master was hiding secret teachings in caves to be revealed hundreds of years later, for the benefit of today. The most famous cave is the Bhutan, called Tiger's Nest. We went there, looking for the teachings. Can you guess what we found?
