Hong Kong Chief Executive: Bay Area blueprint to be unveiled in one to two months

Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said on Tuesday she will work to get approval from the central government within one to two months to release the development plan of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, according to a report by Hong Kong-based news website Takungpao.

It will benefit the three governments of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to promote the development of the Greater Bay Area, the chief executive said.

The development plan of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is jointly compiled by the central government and the governments of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, according to a report by Economic View.

The plan clarifies the target, development direction and key tasks of the Greater Bay Area and covers nine cities in Guangdong province, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Zhaoqing and the Hong Kong and Macao SARs.

The Framework Agreement on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation in the Development of the Bay Area was signed by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in July and showed infrastructure interconnection will be promoted, transportation links between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong and Macao will be strengthened and an efficient and convenient modern comprehensive transportation system will be constructed.
