China's news aggregator Yidianzixun launched a program to boost the healthy development of self-media and encourage self-media operators to produce high-quality content in Beijing on Wednesday.

The news portal vowed to optimize its content ecology by establishing a credit rating system for self-media, offering supportive treatment to self-media accounts with high-quality content, cleaning up those that violate rules and regulations and setting up standards for the self-media industry, according to the program.

"Only by taking the user value as the center, high-quality self-media producers and multi-channel network operators can gain their long-term value and content platforms, such as Yidianzixun can get stable development," said Li Ya, CEO of the company, at the launch ceremony.

Last month, more than 9,800 self-media accounts were punished in the campaign to crack down on illicit activities on social media, including spreading rumors or pornographic information, by the Cyberspace Administration of China.

The violations included defaming heroes, tarnishing the nation's image, spreading rumors and information that is sensational, lewd or pornographic, and blackmailing companies with media exposure, said the administration.

"We are living in an era of information explosion. The giant productivity released by technology has brought great richness and diversity to the information content. At the same time, it also inevitably has various drawbacks and risks, including vulgar and violent contents."

Based on the idea of human-machine synergy, Yidianzixun has tried hard to use technological innovations to create a more comprehensive and profound user portrait by combining the search engine and interest engine to encourage people to express their interests, Li added.

The method can surpass the algorithm-based process which makes use of human weaknesses in seeking novelty, gossip and emotional things, said Li.

The first batch of 191 self-media accounts and 20 MCN operators were awarded with credit authentication certificates issued by Yidianzixun at the event.
