China sweeps gold in intl police pistol shooting championship
The 2nd Union Sportive Internationale Des Polices World Police Service Pistol Shooting Championship ended Monday in this Pearl River delta city after Chinese police shooters swept all 10 gold medals.
A total 256 police athletes, including 199 men and 57 women, competed for the titles during the event that officially kicked off at the Guangdong Police Training Center on Wednesday.
In additional to the competitions, the event helped build a platform for exchanges and cooperation among police from around the world, said Li Chunsheng, vice-governor of Guangdong and director general of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Public Security, at the closing ceremony.
"Guangdong police hope to further advance cooperation with foreign counterparts in the fight against crime in the years to come," Li said.
