China National Aviation Fuel Group Limited, one of the largest jet fuel suppliers in the world, together with the Chinese Academy of Macroeconomic Research, held an international jet fuel forum in Shanghai during the China International Import Expo on Saturday.

As the Chinese economy develops, the Chinese civil aviation market continues to grow fast, and key indicators such as total air traffic volume and passenger throughput all keep increasing rapidly. China's jet fuel consumption has risen more than 140 times in the past 40 years since reform and opening-up started, and has become an important part of China's consumer economy, experts at the forum said.

Forum attendees included the organizing company's executives; officials from related government departments such as commerce, energy and State-owned asset regulators; prominent energy scholars and economists; as well as foreign energy company executives.

Forum experts analyzed the current situation for global and Asia-Pacific jet fuel supply and demand, with a focus on the Chinese jet fuel industry as China vows to further open up.

They also discussed international cooperation opportunities in the Belt and Road Initiative for the jet fuel industry.

Zhou Qiang, chairman of China National Aviation Fuel Group Limited, said the company is willing to cooperate with partners at home and abroad to exploit international cooperation opportunities, and to build a shared bright future.

The forum unveiled the first China Jet Fuel Consumption Index, which is expected to be released annually in the future.
