We feel inspired and motivated after President Xi's speech at the opening ceremony of the China International Import Expo (CIIE). Volvo Car believes that the speech is not solely about CIIE, but rather paints a picture of the overall direction for China's reform and opening-up on a much higher level.

As a global manufacturer of premium cars, Volvo Car has achieved great success over the past years, not only due to Chinese rapid economic development but also from free trade and the open market we support. President Xi's speech significantly boosts our confidence toward future development. Moreover, his speech mentioned that Shanghai Free Trade Zone will be further developed and the Chinese government will lift the scheme of Yangtze River Delta regional integration to a national strategy. Volvo Car believes it has made the right decision to establish its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Shanghai in 2015, which demonstrated its long-term commitment to China. This move proposed by President Xi will further facilitate the development of Volvo Car in China, the Asia-Pacific and in its global development.

The car industry is the backbone of China's booming economy. With all the positive policy implementation in the areas of tariffs, intellectual property, and other economic stimulating plans and government services, we believe that the Chinese car industry will usher in a new era of prosperity and bring many benefits to the Chinese people.
