WINDHOEK - The world football governing body FIFA has refused to recognise the sacking of Namibian Football Association (NFA) President Frans Mbidi.

FIFA released a statement Sunday saying, "In the interim we do not recognise any of the alleged decision to dismiss the NFA President and we are waiting for communication to assess the situation in Namibian Football."

Mbidi was dismissed from his job by the NFA executive committee two weeks ago after a meeting in which he was accused of receiving an undeclared funds from a Moroccan official.

Mbidi however denied the charges and approached FIFA for recourse.

Mbidi has been at the helm of Namibian Football since 2014 and is also in the Executive Council of the Confederation of the Southern African Association (COSAFA).
