The First Xinjiang Special Forestry and Fruit Products Expo that will take place in this Guangdong provincial capital Nov 9-11 is expected to play an important role in helping Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region further expand sales of its abundant fruits and related forestry and agricultural products in the region.

Covering a floor space of 4,300 square meters in the Exhibition Hall of Chinese Imports and Exports Fair, more than 600 different kinds of fruits and agricultural products from Xinjiang will be displayed to seek both domestic and foreign buyers, according to Gao Zhimin, deputy secretary–general of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region government.

"Meanwhile more than 48 major enterprises from Xinjiang will seek expansion of cooperation with their counterparts in Guangdong and the rest of the world to develop Xinjiang's rich natural and tourism resources during the event," Gao said at a press conference in Guangzhou over the weekend.

"Xinjiang, which is known for its high-quality apples, pears, grapes, jujubes, Hami melons and related fruits and agricultural products, needs to strengthen its cooperation with companies from outside the region to further promote sales at home and abroad," Gao said.

Cooperation with Guangdong, the pioneer of China's reform and opening up, is actually a win-win deal, and it would certainly help Xinjiang increase sales of its fruits and agricultural products at home and abroad and expand its economic ties with other parts of the country and the rest of the world, he added.

The expo is jointly organized by National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and Guangdong provincial government.
