The highest-level BMX event in Asia, the 2018 Qiansen Trophy BMX Racing C1, was held Saturday in Aohan Banner of Chifeng city, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Niek Kimmann, ranked No 2 in the world, beat world No 1 Ander Sylvain in the men’s event and Laura Smulders, ranked No 1 in the world, won the women’s championship.

Almost 100 professional athletes from 54 teams in 21 countries, including China, entered their names for the competition.

The event has been qualified as a precursor to the Tokyo Olympic Games, which are expected to have far-reaching effects in promoting BMX development in China.
