Chinese paddlers crowned 10th time in women's team at Asiad

JAKARTA - The Chinese women's table tennis team claimed their 10th title at the Asian Games after breezing past DPR Korea 3-0 in the final here on Tuesday.

It was also the fourth straight title for China in the event since 2006.

Chinese paddlers secured their berths in the final after overcoming South Korea 3-0, and DPR Korea eliminated Hong Kong, China by the same score in the semifinals.

World No. 1 Zhu Yuling earned table tennis powerhouses China a deserved lead after beating DPR Korea's top choice Kim Song I 11-9, 11-8, 11-6.

"We five players had good communication with each other and our coach. That's the key to our win," said Zhu.

"I kept my patience despite difficulties in the match," she added.

Chen Meng put China further ahead as she got past Cha Hyo Sim 11-6, 11-8, 14-12.

"I had better adjustment mentally even in difficulties than last time I played," Chen talked about her second Asiad journey.

Despite a 11-8 loss to Kim Nam Hae in the opening game, China's Wang Manyu secured the win through a 11-5, 11-4, 11-7 comeback.

Wang was dissatisfied with her performance in team event, adding that "it was not late that I found my rhythm in the second game".

Wang also expressed her hope of winning the gold medal in upcoming events in Jakarta.

South Korea and Hong Kong, China bagged the event's bronze medal.
