s Indonesia is hosting the 2018 Asian Games from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2 in Jakarta and Palembang, state-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) has installed additional facilities and services at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Banten, and Sultan Badaruddin International Airport in Palembang, South Sumatra.
Among the new facilities and services offered by the company are Asian Games-themed safety posts and sports corners at the Soekarno-Hatta airport.
AP II president director Muhammad Awaluddin expected the additional facilities and services to accommodate the needs of holidaymakers visiting the country for the Asian Games, the largest sporting event in Asia.
“Airports give foreign tourists their first impression of Indonesia. That’s why we must make our airports as exciting, cool and digital friendly as possible,” he said as quoted by kontan.co.id on Sunday.
The company also recently launched brand-new virtual services, such as Travel Assistance System Angkasa Pura II (TASYA), which serves as an information hub accessible through social media platforms and electronic kiosks at Soekarno-Hatta.
Other digital services at Soekarno-Hatta, which is Indonesia’s largest and busiest airport, include the Airport Digital Lounge in terminals 2 and 3, digital maps and way finding kiosks.
Awaluddin said AP II was anticipating the arrival of 170,000 tourists during the Asian Games.
