Chinese games market sees steady growth in H1

SHANGHAI - The Chinese gaming industry saw impressive business growth in domestic markets in the first half of the year, an industry report showed Thursday.

Sales revenue in the Chinese games market reached 105 billion yuan ($15.4 billion) in H1, up 5.2 percent year-on-year, according to a report on China's gaming industry released at the 16th China International Digital Interactive Entertainment Show held in Shanghai.

Sales revenue for the mobile gaming industry topped 63 billion yuan, while spending on PC games hit nearly 31.6 billion yuan in H1.

China is one of the world's largest games market and had 530 million gamers during the period, an increase of 4 percent year-on-year.

Chinese online-game makers saw robust growth in domestic markets with sales revenue exceeding 79.8 billion yuan during the period, while sales in overseas markets rose to 4.6 billion yuan as more and more domestic game companies begin to woo international players.
