Party discipline, rules enforcement promoted

During a meeting on Tuesday chaired by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee reviewed rules concerning those who violate codes of Party conduct.
Xinhua News Agency reported that the meeting stressed the importance of ruling the Party with strict discipline, saying that political discipline is the most significant, fundamental and critical task at hand.
As socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, strict discipline helps guarantee that the Party achieves new progress, it said.
The meeting called for upholding the authority of the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping as its core, and the committee's centralized, unified leadership, observing strict political discipline and rules, and consolidating the political foundation of the Party.
The enforcement of discipline and applicable laws should be combined in everyday management and supervision to weed out erroneous ideas at an early stage, Xinhua reported.
Also, punishments meted out early for disciplinary violations could prevent Party members from making bigger mistakes at a later stage, and guide them in their development. Strict implementation of discipline is a test of their loyalty and performance.
Greater efforts were called for in making rules, enhancing implementation and carrying out enforcement, Xinhua reported.
