Inspection planned on implementation of traditional Chinese medicine law

China's top legislature plans to carry out an inspection at the "proper time" to make sure the Law on Traditional Chinese Medicine is strictly implemented, a top legislator said on Thursday.

The law, which came into force in July last year, aims to improve public health through promoting the development of TCM.

Arken Imirbaki, a vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress, said that in the past year authorities at all levels had introduced rules to supplement the Law on Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the efforts had contributed greatly to the development of TCM and improvement of public health.

Policymakers should have a better understanding of the importance of strictly implementing the law and its supporting rules, he said.

Imirbaki was speaking at a conference held in Beijing to mark the first anniversary of the law coming into effect.
