Beijing 2022 organizers say invaluable lessons will be learned from the International Olympic Committee's forthcoming debriefing on the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Games.

Staring from next Monday, the IOC will begin an extensive five-day dissection of the Pyeongchang Games at the headquarters of the Beijing 2022 organizing committee in the western suburbs of the capital.

IOC President Thomas Bach will be in attendance and will hear a report from Beijing organizers.

The summit will feature a summary-and-evaluation session of Pyeongchang's hosting work and a combination of plenary and breakout sessions focusing on operational issues that Beijing faces.

"This marks the handover of Olympic hosting expertise from Pyeongchang to Beijing," said Yan Cheng, human resource director of Beijing 2022 organizing committee.

"The share of knowledge and transfer of expertise from the Pyeongchang organizing committee will enlighten us about the complexity of hosting Winter Olympic Games and provide us with proven experience to facilitate our work.”

Yan added that his committee has prepared over 2,000 questions specifically on snow-sport operations to discuss with IOC executives and their South Korean counterparts during the event.

About 400 attendees including Beijing organizers, governmental officials, sports governing body representatives and venue owners are expected to take part in the debriefing.
