Chinese Winter Olympians after Pyeongchang
University students: Jia Zongyang and Kong Fanyu
Jia Zongyang, silver medalist at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in the freestyle skiing men’s aerials, chose to continue his graduate studies at Beijing Sport University.
“The previous competition was exhausting, but I am in good condition after weeks of adjustment,” said Jia.
The three-time Olympian has no clear plan for his next steps, but his participation in the 2022 Beijing Winter Games is certain, he said.
Kong Fanyu took home bronze in the women’s aerials final in Pyeongchang. After a weeklong rest in her hometown, Kong went back to Beijing Sport University for further study. The 24-year-old athlete has stayed with her major of women’s aerials while selecting other courses for further improvement. She will also keep training for the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
