PARIS - French President Emmanuel Macron saw his public support tumble to a record low since he took power last May, as his far-reaching social and economic reforms have drawn opposition, a poll showed on Tuesday.

On February, Macron collected 43 percent of favorable opinions, down by six percentage points compared to January figures, reaching his lowest approval rating since he was elected ten months ago, an Odoxa survey found.

Over the period, the ex-investment banker enjoyed the support of his ruling camp "the Republic On The Move", while supporters from the right and left camps were fewer to back his action mainly that to reform the Social Security Contribution (CSG), limit the speed to 80 km per hour and possible closure of rural rail lines, according to the pollster.

Since December, the 40-year-old president lost 11 percentage points, it added.

Odoxa poll questioned 973 respondents on Feb 21, 22.
