To further enhance the cultural collaboration between UK and China, Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May announced Feb 1 the initiation of a new cultural cooperative program during her visit in China.

The memorandum of understanding to promote China-UK cooperation in the field of cultural heritage and museums was signed between the State Administration of Cultural Heritage of the People's Republic of China and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, in the presence of Premier Li Keqiang and the British prime minister.

"Both the UK and China have rich and distinctive cultures of which we are rightly proud. Today's agreements mean we will work even more closely together, collaborating on film festivals, theme parks, architecture, history and much more," said the prime minister.

"By sharing our history and culture we will also deepen the strong ties between our two peoples."

A series of cultural projects will be launched in 2018, including Inspiring Women in the Arts, featuring the achievements of Chinese female artists, and Serpentine Pavilion Beijing, an exhibition hall to be opened in Beijing in May.

Business agreements, with the value of 2.14 billion yuan ($341 million), in the creative and cultural sector, have been made including new Lego parks, animated films and children's shows.
