Tibet offers winter discounts on hotels, flights, entry fees
Great discounts on hotels, flights and tickets for scenic spots will be available to people visiting Tibet in next three months from Feb 1 to April 30, according to the government of the Tibet autonomous region.
Tourist attractions, including the Potala Palace, will be free to visitors during the next three months.
Prices of hotels with three stars and above will drop by 50 percent, along with vehicles for rent in the region.
Companies that organize staff members to visit Tibet with chartered airplanes or trains will receive financial incentives. Some 100,000 yuan ($15,900) will be awarded to companies with more than 100 people on board, while 150,000 yuan will be awarded to those with over 200 staff members on chartered airplanes.
Tickets for flights from Lhasa to Ngari and additional flights from Lhasa to the cities of Nyingchi and Chamdo will be 30 percent off the market price.
Wang Songping, director of the region's tourism development commission, said that the preferential policies in winter tours will be of great significance to boost the region's economy with high quality development.
