Dong people in SW China celebrate new year

Dong people from the 72 villages of Rongjiang county in Southwest China's Guizhou province held a New Year's celebration Jan 4. The new year in Dong culture starts from November of the lunar calendar, which symbolizes the end of this year's farming work and the beginning of a new cycle. It is the biggest festival for the Dong ethnic group and was included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
