Olympic logos are unveiled
IOC President Thomas Bach gave high marks to the new emblem in a video message celebrating the moment.
"The unveiling of the emblem is a milestone in the exciting journey for China and the entire Olympic family," Bach said. "This emblem is the symbol of ambitions and dreams, showcasing the best of China to the world and bringing the joy of winter sports to a new generation in China and beyond."
The emblem for the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games was unveiled later by Vice-Premier Liu Yandong and wheelchair curling athlete Zhang Qiang, together with Cai.
Inspired by the Chinese character fei, which means flying, the design embodies the strong determination of para-athletes to conquer physical barriers and attain athletic excellence.
The Beijing 2022 organizing committee has taken steps to ensure that the intellectual property rights in the two logos are protected against any kind of unauthorized use.
