A luminous 15-meter high Christmas tree made up of more than 3,000 LED balls was lit up in Beijing’s Sanlitun on Dec 7, kicking off the city's Christmas season.

The installation is designed by Austrian company MK Illumination with a big glass ball on top as a screen to display videos such as colorful lines and waves.

Besides, there are other lighting installations in Sanlitun, including a perfume bottle-shaped installation that gives off pleasant smell.

Meanwhile, in an exhibition hall behind the Christmas tree, there are 12 walls for people to take photos. The walls are set up by Chinese travel information website Mafengwo, and showcase 12 well-known tourist sites, such as the "I love you" wall in Paris.
