BEIJING -- China's anti-pornography office said Wednesday it would blacklist anchors who had spread pornography during live streaming, as supervision of the sector tightens.

Anchors on the blacklist will be barred from the whole industry, according to a statement from the National Office Against Pornographic and Illegal Publications.

The office urged operators of live streaming platforms to vet their content more completely, and to immediately block any streams found to be at fault.

Live streaming platforms have been closed or given fines for broadcasting pornography this year, with more than ten under criminal investigation.

"Although a majority of these platforms have not been operating for very long, they have made a lot of money and had an adverse social impact," the statement read.

This behavior gravely challenges the law and social morality, it added.
