774 new A/H1N1 flu cases confirmed in Europe

STOCKHOLM:A European health agency said Tuesday that 774 new A/H1N1 flu cases were reported in European countries within the last 24 hours.

Of the new cases, 385 were confirmed in Germany, 109 in Netherlands, 70 in Norway, 60 in Portugal, 39 in Switzerland, 37 in Denmark, 30 in Austria, seven respectively in Bulgaria and Iceland, six respectively in Lithuania and Slovakia, five in Estonia, four in Slovenia, three in Hungary, two respectively in Liechtenstein and Romania, one respectively in Latvia and Poland, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) said in its daily situation report.

The total number of confirmed cases of the H1N1 flu virus in the European Union (EU) and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries rose to 34,152, with 1,538 cases in Spain and 12,470 in Britain, 880 in France and 10,155 in Germany, the ECDC said.

The ECDC publishes a daily situation report about the H1N1 flu cases in the EU and EFTA countries based on official information from these countries.
