The Beijing government said on April 25 that the food industry should begin a campaign against smoking.

All large and medium-sized restaurants in famous scenic spots, cultural heritage parks, and hotels have signed a no smoking agreement with the Olympic Committee. All Olympic venues and the Olympic Village should be no smoking zones before June 2008.

The Beijing Health Bureau, Beijing Tourist Agency and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce and other departments said that all large and medium-sized food caterers should have a no smoking policy. If they cannot implement a complete smoking ban, they should at least have smoking and non-smoking areas.
