Entitled "IOC Olympic Treasure Exhibition China Tour," the collections include Olympic medals, torches, mascots, art products, films and photographs, sports-related scientific and technological products, as well as souvenirs of previous Olympic Games. Sponsored by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Chinese Olympic Committee and the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), the exhibition will start in Beijing and continue in 13 other cities, including Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou and Chongqing, until the opening of the 29th Olympiad, the organizers announced in Beijing on Sunday. Highlighting the importance of the event, the organizers told a news conference that it will display a blend of the Western and Chinese cultures, tell a story behind each collection item and provide an opportunity to enhance Chinese people's Olympic awareness. In his message, IOC President Jacques Rogge believed that the exhibition will bring for the first time the Olympic Museum to China and display the core value of the Olympic Spirit to the Chinese people. The organizers also launched the tour's website (http://www.olympress.com) on Sunday. |
