Olympics to combine int'l practices and local culture(Xinhua)Updated: 2007-02-17 11:01Beijing will strive to combine Olympic conventions and local traditions and culture in preparing the Games, declared BOCOG Executive Vice-President Liu Jingmin. The city will organize the Olympics in keeping with international procedures and its bid promises, but will not neglect the local culture, Liu stressed. Food is a case in point. Western food will be served in the Olympic Village during the Games. The organizers, however, are planning to offer some Chinese food as well. Liu said Olympic organizers are anxious to use the Olympics to showcase the rich culinary tradition of the Chinese people. |
