Progress in power project for Olympic Games(BOCOG)Updated: 2007-02-13 10:04 As of the end of January 2007, work has started on 61 out of the 95 projects related to the electric grid for the Olympic Games, according to the Beijing Electric Power Corporation. Among the 61 projects, 11, about 64.2 percent of the total, have already been completed, including two 220-kilovolt transmission and transformer stations and nine 110kv stations. The 220kv Kunyuhe station will help meet the demand for load growth in Beijing's northwest area and increase the reliability of the local electric network. The company is now burying aerial cables in the central Olympic venue area and along its peripheral roads. This project will affect 62 roads and 4 bridges, covering a total length of 157 kilometers. |
