HK holds fence design competition

A fence design competition for the show jumping event in the 2008 Equestrian Event was launched Monday.

Organized by Hong Kong Equestrian Company, the competition aims to arouse public's interests in the equestrian event. The design work should convey the themes of the Beijing Olympics, which are " Green Olympics", "High-tech Olympics" and "People's Olympics", and the brand images of Hong Kong including the attributes of progressive, innovative and cosmopolitan.

President of the Olympic Committee of Hong Kong Timothy Fok said that jumping fences were a good way to promote the Hong Kong personality before the global community.

He said the competition was a good opportunity for members of the public to exercise their creativity by submitting innovative designs for fences.

The competition comprises three categories: junior, senior and professional. The result will be announced next year on March, 27.
