Olympic venues to complete by 2007

Beijing Olympic Games will be completed by the end of 2007 to ensure the normal
operation of test events.
 The National Stadium, dubbed the
'Bird's Nest', is taking shape. The supports underpinning the steel
structure were completely removed in September, and work on the plumbing
and electricity have begun. Construction is expected to finish by the end

and secretary-general of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the
29th Olympiad, or BOCOG, made the remarks at the on-going Beijing-Hong Kong
Economic Cooperation Symposium.
Construction projects are now under way with the completion of the
Qinhuangdao Olympic Sports Center Stadium, where some of the preliminary Olympic
football matches will be held.
In addition, Beijing's urban functions have improved and its service
capabilities boosted. A large number of infrastructure projects, including
highways and rail lines, have been completed.
A total of 37 competition venues and 76 training facilities are planned for
the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
