BEIJING - A book by Chinese President Xi Jinping on governance caught eyes as foreign journalists arrived at the media center of the on-going Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings on Thursday.

The book, Xi Jinping: The Governance of China, was displayed at a book stand at the entrance of the media center, and reporters could take it for free.

More than 200 copies in multiple languages including Chinese, English, French, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, Japanese and German were taken away by journalists Thursday morning, according to Chen Zhipeng, a volunteer from Peking University.

Marco Madinelli, an East Asia correspondent of Radiotelevisione Italiana, said he is "quite interested" in the book.

The Italian reporter said he hopes to know about the president's ideology in governance through the book.

The book, a record of speeches and instructions by Xi from Nov. 15, 2012 to June 13, 2014, made its debut at the Frankfurt book fair in October.

"The book embodies Chinese wisdom, and we hope it could help with the international community's understanding of China's development concepts and policies," said Xu Bu, president of the Foreign Languages Press, publisher of the book.

China's initiatives of building the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, which are narrated in the book, will be discussed at the APEC meetings.

Terry Mark, press officer of the Papua New Guinea APEC delegation, said he is trying to find the Chinese leader' wisdom in governing the country.

As China is the largest developing country in the world and has a successful experience of development, he wants to know the governing strategy of China's new administration through the book, Mark said.

Xi will chair the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting slated for Nov. 10 and 11 which is themed on "shaping the future through Asia-Pacific partnership."
