2 Taliban local commanders killed: NATO

KABUL, Afghanistan- Two Taliban local commanders were killed in Nangarhar province of eastern Afghanistan Wednesday as part of the Afghan and NATO forces intensified campaign against militants' mid-level command structure and its supply lines, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said in a press release issued here on Thursday.

"The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) confirmed Sayid Rahman and Zehrie Gul, two Taliban senior commanders in Pachir wa Agam district in Nangarhar province, were killed during an air strike targeting a group of armed insurgents Wednesday," the press release added.

A precision air strike was conducted after ensuring no civilians were present in the area, the press release further said.

The forces also found multiple AK-47s, chest racks, rocket propelled grenade rounds and grenades on the ground, it further said.

Taliban militants fighting Afghan and NATO-led forces have yet to make comments.
