"Afghan and coalition forces detained a Haqqani Network leader along with three suspected insurgents in a joint security operation in Khost province yesterday," NATO said in a statement released here.

However, it failed to identify the name of the detained militant, adding the targeted individual operated in Sabari, Terayzai and Bak districts in Khost province.

Haqqani network is the military wing of Taliban outfit operating in eastern provinces as well as in the capital city Kabul.

The arrested militant leader was responsible for recruiting suicide bombers to attack Afghan schools, district centers, Afghan security forces and coalition troops, the statement further said.

There were no casualties on civilians and security forces during the operation, it stressed.
