BOGOTA - Six people died on Wednesday in a plane accident in eastern Colombia, including a child, officials said.

Colonel Hector Carrascal from the Colombian Civil Aeronautics said that the bodies were already taken to the Legal Medicine Institute in Yopal, capital of Casanare department.

An investigation has been carried out over the reasons of the disaster.

The Civil Aeronautics indicated in a report that the damaged aircraft was a Pipper 34 matriculation HK-4429G, in which six passengers were traveling.

The accident occurred in surrounding areas of Casanare's department, in the Oriental Colombian Plains.
