MEXICO CITY -- A total of 29 people have been killed so far during the Easter holiday in El Salvador and most of them died in traffic accidents, according to reports reaching here from the country's capital San Salvador.
Apart from the 29 deaths, 326 were injured in traffic accidents, the major killer during the holiday season, which took 21 lives, according to statistics from Sunday to Thursday. The rest eight were drowned.
The civil protection service has called on citizens to drive carefully during the Easter vacations and behave responsibly to avoid all kinds of accidents.
The call will alert people against accidents, so they can better enjoy their vacations, said officials from the interior ministry, adding that the forthcoming days from Thursday to Sunday are more accident prone as thousands more are to join the vacation.
The Easter holiday in El Salvador this year spans from March 14 to March 25.
