Moderate earthquake shakes Kyrgyzstan(Xinhua)
Updated: 2007-12-26 20:46 TASHKENT -- An earthquake measuring 6 on the Richter scale shook southern Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday, with no injuries reported so far, according to Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations. The Interfax news agency reported that the quake took place at 10:45 a.m. (0445 GMT), with its epicenter located 25 km from the southern city of Osh, the second-largest city of the Central Asian republic. The Interior Ministry has sent a term of experts including rescue workers, firefighters and medical staff to the region. |
