Updated: 2007-10-29 19:33 SEOUL - A South Korean official said Monday that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) reconfirmed to start disablement of nuclear facilities from early November. According to Lim Sung-nam, South Korea's chief negotiator for the working-level talks on energy assistance, the DPRK side said on Monday that it is moving to disable its nuclear facilities from November 1 and faithfully implement its second-phase denuclearization measures under the February agreement. The DPRK also expects the other five nations to provide the economic and energy assistance promised in the February 13 agreement in a timely manner, Lim said after the first plenary session of the two-day working-level talks involving China, DPRK, the US, South Korea, Russia and Japan at the truce village of Panmunjom. The working group is one of five established under the February deal. Others deal with the denuclearization of the DPRK, the establishment of a peace regime on the Korean Peninsula and the normalization of Pyongyang's diplomatic ties with Washington and Tokyo. |
